What's New For the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban?

A new generation of Suburbans is coming soon, but it's not quite ready yet. As such, the 2020 models are still under the current generation and feature very few updates and changes. The only changes the 2020 Suburban has are cosmetic: the removal of Pepperdust Metallic as an optional color; new finishes for the rear wheels; and the deletion of the All-Season and the LT Signature Packages.

2020 Chevy Suburban is Impressive No Matter Which Trim You Choose

With the 2020 Suburban, you get your choice of three trims with fantastic options. The first, the Suburban LS comes standard with 5.3-liter V6, a heavy-duty locking rear differential, and rear park assist, to name a few features. There's also a Teen Driver mode, active aero shutters, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Moving up to the LT gets you everything on the LS plus forward-collision warning, a power rear liftgate, MyLink infotainment system (for managing digital entertainment and navigation), leather seating, and power-adjustable pedals. Up from the LT, you've got the Suburban Premier, which adds onto the features of the previously mentioned trims with magnetic ride control, push-button start, and keyless entry. Additionally, the Premier comes with 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, fog lights, HID headlights and heated and cooled front seats.

How Well does the 2020 Suburban Perform?

Chevy's got two powerful engines available for the Suburban. The 5.3-liter V8 comes standard with all three trims and packs quite a punch. It produces a hefty 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. The other engine, the 6.2-liter V8, is optional and comes with the RST Package. Its power output is impressive at 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque to boot. The 5.3-liter engine gets 15 and 22 miles per gallon in the city and on the highway, respectively, and the 6.2-liter V8 pulls 14 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. A 6-speed automatic transmission is coupled with the 5.3-liter, and the 6.2-liter has a 10-speed automatic. Both motors may also be paired with transmissions with 4X4 capability, which results in a very slight drop in mpg.

2020 Suburban has an Abundance of Safety Features

Standard safety equipment in the 2020 Suburban is comprehensive with front-seat airbags (available as a center-mounted airbag when the Suburban has bucket seats), side-impact airbags, and full-length side-curtain airbags. There's also lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and a radar-based forward-collision warning and front automatic braking system. The 2020 Chevy Suburban has not yet been tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, but it has undergone tests performed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The results were good, with the Suburban earning four out of five stars.
