This year marks the 250th anniversary of the United States, and Chevrolet chose the historic running of the Indianapolis 500 to honor the milestone. The celebrated company arrived at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 23, 2026, to pay homage to the enduring relationship between the country and the brand.
Chevrolet in Indianapolis to Celebrate America's 250th
The crowd at the Indianapolis 500 was treated to an exceptional performance by Chevrolet. The track display involved 250 massive lit candles placed along the course. Driving a vehicle optimized for premium performance, software engineer Cody Bulkley successfully extinguished all 250 candles with complete control and speed.
Following the presentation, the Vice President of Global Chevrolet shared thoughts on the brand's national role. "Resilience, pride, and work ethic of America have driven our nation forward for 250 years. For nearly 115 years, Chevrolet has been ingrained in America's story," Bell shared. Speaking to the vehicle's place in history, Bell added, "Corvette has long been a symbol of the American dream, so it is a privilege to celebrate this moment at the Racing Capital of the World by having Corvette ZR1X blow out 250 candles in a display of power and precision."
The celebration expands beyond the speedway grounds with multiple national initiatives this year. Chevrolet launched the exclusive Stars & Steel Collection to highlight top-tier local manufacturing. Additionally, a contemporary adaptation of the 1950 "See the USA in your Chevrolet" marketing campaign has revitalized public interest. The brand will continue to reflect on its American journey for the rest of the year while positioning itself for future industry dominance.
