The Corvette ZR1X is 1-of-1
Chevrolet created this unique ZR1X to serve as a tribute to those who sacrifice for the nation. Although it is recognized as America's quickest production car, its main contribution is the $2.6 million it raised for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Chevrolet expressed honor at the prospect that the bid will support first responders and veterans in need.
Rick Hendrick, CEO of Hendrick Automotive Group and Hendrick Motorsports, was the winning bidder. The Stars & Steel-inspired car was hand-painted at the General Motors Design Fabrication shop and features blue brake calipers and custom blue accents. A powerful twin-turbocharged V8 engine powers it.
Frank Siller, CEO of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, thanked General Motors and Chevrolet for their continued support. He emphasized that these contributions are vital for the foundation's work in supporting the families of fallen heroes and helping injured veterans live independently.
In their 15-year partnership, Chevrolet and Barrett-Jackson have raised $15.5 million for various charities. Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson, commented that the new owner has purchased a significant piece of automotive and charitable history.
