What's New for the 2018 Chevrolet Trax?

The Chevrolet Trax is one of the new generation of smaller and more exciting Chevrolet vehicles aimed at a younger demographic. As a subcompact crossover SUV, the Chevrolet Trax gave us plenty of things to get excited about when it first came over to the United States in 2015 after several successful years in Europe and Asia. For the 2018, the Chevrolet Trax gets some more standard features on the mid-range and high-end packages, but the biggest addition is the stylish new Redline look. Combining blacked-out body elements with bold bright red features, it gives the Trax an even more modern and appealing look. Other than those small additions, the 2018 Chevrolet Trax is very similar to the outgoing 2017 model.

2018 Chevrolet Trax Trim Variety

The Chevrolet Trax is fairly nicely equipped for its price point, and it comes in three varieties that give you plenty of choice when it comes to picking the right features. Ranging from the fairly basic LS through to the fully-equipped Premier, there is a Trax trim for everyone.

The Trax LS is equipped with a good range of standard features, including a few pleasant surprises. A rearview camera, air conditioning and keyless entry are standard features, as is a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment control that comes equipped with an in-car 4G LTE connection and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The standard model is front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is also available as an optional feature.

The Chevrolet Trax LT is the mid-grade model that gives the Trax alloy wheels and a remote starter, as well as access to a number of upgrade packages covering everything from leather and heated seats to a sunroof and premium audio. Here is also where you find the brand-new Redline visual upgrade package.

If you are the kind of person who likes to just get the complete package, there is the Trax Premier. It includes all of the optional features available on the Trax LT, with the exception of the Redline package. It is also the only model available with dynamic cruise control and forward collision warning, which comes as part of an optional package.

2018 Chevy Trax FrontDespite its small size, the Chevrolet Trax packs a pretty potent punch with its engine, transmission and driving dynamics. The power in this subcompact comes from a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine that squeezes out 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque. This gives it a good off-the-line acceleration and makes it easy to keep up with highway traffic. However, it is in an urban setting that the Trax really shines. It has a very precise electric power steering and an eager suspension system that makes it easy to really whip this little car around corners, through traffic and into tight parking spots. As an urban cruiser with the storage space of an SUV, the Chevrolet Trax is truly an outstanding model.

2018 Chevrolet Trax - Safety With No Compromises
