Chevrolet Blazer Driving

Don't let your engine overheating ruin your weekend plans. Keep up on routine inspections and maintenance at Vandergriff Chevrolet, but you should also keep an eye out for issues that may be occurring with the following parts of your engine. These are designed to regulate your vehicle's internal temperature, so it doesn't overheat.

Cooling System

The coolant in your cooling system needs to be at the proper level to keep your vehicle regulated. If your fluid levels are low, this is usually because of a leak. It's not common for coolant to get too low just from regular driving. We can inspect for cracks or holes that are causing the leak.

Water Pump Pressure Concerns

Your water pump may stop working correctly due to leaks as well. When this happens, there isn't nearly enough pressure to pump the coolant through the cooling system and engine.

Problems Involving Your Radiator

Your radiator should be working right alongside your engine's internal fans to provide cooling temperatures each time your engine is running. These fans are prone to breaking just like any other part of your vehicle in constant motion.

Thermostat Function

Your thermostat functions as a valve between the coolant reservoir and your radiator, and you need that valve to be in working order if you expect your engine to be kept cool. When we see a car that's overheating, one of the first things that we check is the thermostat's potential to be stuck in place.

Hoses and Belts

Over time, your hoses and belts may develop holes or damage that prevents them from working correctly and efficiently to keep your engine cool. There may even be an instance where you have a belt that snaps in half. The hoses can do the same. This will cause a rapid increase in temperature inside of your engine.

If you have overheating engine problems, we encourage you to come by our service department to check out your vehicle. We'll look at all of these points to see what's going on and some other areas that can cause overheating. Give us a call today or reach out through our website.
